Job Description:
As an Associate Data Engineer at SoftTech, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting data pipelines, databases, and data processing systems. You will work closely with data engineers, data analysts, software engineers, product managers, and other technical teams to collect, transform, validate, and organize data from multiple sources. You will play an important role in ensuring that data is accurate, accessible, secure, and available for reporting, analytics, and business applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Pipeline Development: Assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining reliable and scalable data pipelines for collecting and processing data from different sources.
- Data Integration: Support the integration of data from databases, APIs, applications, cloud platforms, files, and other internal and external sources.
- Data Transformation: Develop and maintain data transformation processes to clean, structure, standardize, and prepare data for analytics, reporting, and downstream applications.
- Database Management: Assist with designing, maintaining, and optimizing databases, data warehouses, and data storage systems while ensuring data consistency and availability.
- Data Quality: Monitor data pipelines and datasets for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability and assist in identifying and resolving data quality issues.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, data engineers, software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and support business and technical projects.
- Testing & Monitoring: Perform data pipeline testing, troubleshoot processing issues, monitor data workflows, and support the resolution of technical and operational problems.
- Documentation & Improvement: Maintain technical documentation for data pipelines, databases, workflows, and processes while continuously learning and recommending improvements to SoftTech's data engineering practices.
Who Should Apply:
- Experience: 1-3 years of professional experience in data engineering, database development, ETL development, software development, or a related technology role.
- Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of SQL and programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar technologies, with an understanding of data processing and automation concepts.
- Data Engineering Knowledge: Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, data warehousing, data integration, data modeling, databases, and fundamental data engineering principles.
- Database Skills: Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle and basic knowledge of NoSQL databases is an advantage.
- Cloud & Data Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud and data services, storage systems, or analytics platforms is an advantage.
- Problem Solving: Good analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate data issues, identify pipeline problems, and develop practical and reliable solutions.
